Dr Rehan Haidry’s own trans- Oral incisionless fundoplication (TIF) data were recently presented (June) at a leading medical congress; the British Society of Gastroenterology (BSG) Annual Conference.

Dr Haidry and his team at Cleveland Clinic London carry out research on all their endoscopic procedures, including TIF. The data is expected to be published in a scientific journal later this year.

Dr Haidry is perfectly placed to lead academic research and clinical thinking around TIF. He has carried out the most transoral incisionless fundoplications in Europe, (becoming the first doctor to surpass 100 procedures). Dr Haidry likes to quote his own outcome data to patients, so they can get a more realistic perspective of what to expect.

The new data presented at the BSG meeting (Evaluation of the safety and efficacy of trans- Oral incisionless fundoplication) shows that patients treated by Dr Haidry at the Cleveland Clinic with the TIF procedure showed a 75% significant clinical improvement in terms of reflux symptoms. Almost two-thirds of TIF patients were able to completely stop all acid suppression medication after their procedure.

Dr Haidry now runs the European training programme to support colleagues to begin TIF for patients at their own hospitals.
