Cleveland Clinic London recently hosted a two‑day educational programme for gastroenterologists, GI surgeons and interventional endoscopists from across Europe seeking advanced, practical training in the assessment and management of swallowing disorders.
The course (held in March 2026) forms part of the Cleveland Clinic London’s ongoing commitment to high‑quality clinical education. Led by Dr Rehan Haidry and Professor Daniel Pohl, who are both internationally recognised experts, the programme combined expert‑led lectures with hands‑on small‑group training, enabling delegates to deepen their understanding of conditions such as GORD, achalasia and gastroparesis.
Sessions included “The GORD Patient – map to correct and effective diagnosis” and “The Achalasia and Gastroparesis Patient – diagnosis and management”, followed by practical modules exploring the real‑time use of balloon dilation in procedures including POEM and G‑POEM.
Delegates also participated in structured group training covering dilation of the oesophagogastric junction and pylorus, alongside Bravo™ capsule placement and interpretation.
The event concluded with an expert Q&A and a scientific dinner reviewing case characteristics, global guidelines and emerging clinical evidence. Attendance was limited to a small group of 12 clinicians to ensure focused discussion and meaningful interaction throughout.
The programme was delivered in partnership with Medtronic, who also contributed sessions on their balloon dilation device (Endoflip/Esoflip) physics and practical application.
